Privacy Policy
It is very hard for us to collect absolutely no data about our visitors or users. Firstly it helps us know if people like what we write and for use to produce more content and secondly, that's just how the internet works. But we do try to minimise the amount of information we do collect, and any information we collect is never sold or shared with any third parties beyond the need to create, distribute, and sell this newsletter.
3rd Party Platforms
To run our site and blog, we have to use third party services and by necessity they will be handling your data. Below we will outline the third party services we use.
Ghost - Newsletter Platform
The main web application, backend, and newsletter delivery capabilities are provided by Ghost. Ghost is an independant publishing platform.
Stripe - Payment Management
Ghost come with Stripe integration so any payments will be processed by the Stripe platform and our Stipe account.
Plausible - Website Analytics
We have chosen not to use Google Analytics and instead pay for Plausible a privacy perserving analytics platform. This tracks the traffic and metrics of our site without storing any information about you. As opposed to Google, which, well you know...
Data We Collect
When you subscribe to the Insecure Line email newsletter the following information will be collected.
- Email Address - This is required to deliver the newsletter to you.
- Location - When you sign up Ghost will try to determine your location at a Country level.
- Payment information (optional) - To process payment information we need to collect your credit card details.

Data Collection Minimization
The data described above is used to deliver the service to you and for use to understand the performance of our newsletter. While we need this information, we do not need it to be personally identifiable and have chosen to limit what information we collect to start off with. But if you want to protect your privacy even more consider the following strategies:
- Hide Your Email: Use an email alias service such as SimpleLogin to create a random email address to use to sign up to our newsletter.
- Hide Your Location: Use a VPN to obscure your geographic location.
- Hide Your Credit Card Details: Use a pre-paid debit card or one-time digital card to purchase a subscription.
Ghost also logs the date when you perform certain actions while being logged in. For example, when you last logged in, or opened an email from us. Some emails platforms will have privacy preserving measures that block this.
Data Sharing
No information will be shared, sold, or otherwise transferred to any third parties not explicitly mentioned in this policy (Ghost, Stripe, Plausible), ever.
